The Rod Laver and its Vin(tage) variant have played a key role in the Three Stripes lineup of late, both in the Originals collection in a variety of colorways and collaborations, and even within the skateboarding division as a sort of specialty signature for the top riders. This new design descending from the Laver line looks like it could be a perfect fit for the latter appropriation, as the reinforced ollie area on the adidas Originals Court Savvy Low is exactly what you’d find in the textbook for skate sneaker design 101. You can also see the definite adidas tennis influence in that section’s perforated ‘Stripes’, though that’s not a signature element, but one borrowed from the Stan Smith. This subtle branding detail leaves the entire rest of the silo with the kind of sleek simplicity that all but ensures their success as a casual design, so check out more photos after the jump and get ready for the adidas Court Savvy to arrive at select retailers next month.
NIKE, Inc. - DANK CUSTOMS NIKE AIR MAX 1 (UNCLE MAX)
Prolific sneaker retoucher Dank Customs is back with a new commissioned Air Max 1 that riffs on the immortal UNKLE Nike Dunk High Pro SB ‘Dunkle’ colab. Just like the Air Jordan 6 by DeJesus Customs we saw recently, this piece transplants the aliens and atoms made famous by Futura onto a non-Dunk silhouette, this time it’s a crispy Air Max 1 that puts on the pink party dress. If you’re seeking a replica faithful to the original, then this one definitely trumps the Jordan effort, the prints are clean and look pro, and it looks darn tidy placed next to the original Dunkle for comparison. These gems were created for dancehall demon Mad Lion, as you can tell by the tongue, but you can hassle Dank for a custom of your own from his website.
